Established this professional performance troupe dedicated to recreating and presenting period social dances in an historically accurate manner. Coordinate and present workshops and events to promote historical social dance in the DC, MD, and VA areas. Develop all marketing and public relations materials for troupe and organization including brochures, press kits and website. Perform all marketing and public relations duties. Research, reconstruct, choreograph, and teach dances; approve costumes; maintain website; arrange workshops and events; seek out new contacts and performance opportunities; write contracts; and manage dancers and volunteers. Maintain listserv for weekly dance announcements.

Researched, developed and wrote entries for encyclopedias geared towards High School Students, commissioned by this packaging company based in London, England that produces for Grolier Publishing. Entries include: “Dance” and “Dance Marathons” for Twenties USA Encyclopedia; “Dance,” “American Bandstand,” and “Broadway” for Fifties USA. 

Researched, developed, choreographed, and produced lecture/performance comparing the Cancan and the Charleston, using steps reconstructed from period sources. Applied this research project/performance as partial fulfillment of a Masters in Dance at American University, Washington, DC. Designed costumes, sets, and props.  Conducted all public relations and promotional tasks.  Directed, lectured, choreographed and danced in the performance.

Assist with management and public relations tasks for this percussive dance ensemble specializing in Appalachian Clogging and Flatfooting. Design and maintain web page. Assist with costume and set list decisions for shows. Act as liaison with musicians for performances. Assist with promotion and public relations tasks.

Assist with Sales tasks for locally owned game company. Promote, market and demonstrate games at game conventions. Interface with game companies and retailers to promote games and assist them with financial and product transactions. Update database of retailers.

Assist with editing and production tasks for this travel magazine publishing company. Implement changes in articles written in English and Spanish. Use various software products including Quark XPress to edit, layout, and produce magazine articles.

Completed administrative tasks for this alliance of major dance collections formed to strengthen dance documentation. Created and maintained project databases, mailing lists, and contact information. Assisted with writing grant proposals and applications. Assisted Executive Director with various projects as needed.

Processed and categorized materials from the Martha Graham Trust for the purpose of organizing an archive collection. Organized and maintained performance media and archival information in order to make the collection more easily accessible to the general public. Created and maintained databases of performance media for Library of Congress staff.

Teach and advise students in technique, warm-up exercises, drills, dance combinations, choreography, and improvisation. Assign and evaluate students’ dance analysis projects on percussive, ballroom, and historical dance performances.  Assess and grade students’ dance technique, performance, stage presence, and ability. Consult with students and faculty on choreography, dance technique, research and analysis projects, and performances. Perform these duties in Tap, Jazz, Latin dance, Scottish and Irish dance, and Historical dance. Choreograph dance pieces in each end of semester Showcase. Consult with students on development and choreography of dance exhibitions.  Coach students on proper footwork, spatial relations, stage presence, group performance dynamics, and performance skills.

Choreograph piece for end of semester Showcase; coach students on footwork, technique, spatial relations, and stage presence. Taught “Dance & Society,” a class on dance and its place in society throughout history. Developed syllabus and lesson plans for semester, including assigned readings and projects, contracting guest lectures, and producing quizzes and exams.
