Ginohnavala
J:
This week's reading is from the Book of
John, in the Ginohnavala:
Yea, verily my
muscles have become sore as Monday morning.
For
I created a staircase this week,
For
the loft in Lori's room.
OK,
really our friend Christian made it, but I helped a lot.
For I also
aided an emergency move by loading a truck and jeep with Valuable Things
And
driving the jeep back from Salisbury, which is a full three hours away
or so.
For I also
rearranged many pieces of furniture
And
cleaned closets
And organized the attic in our house.
And I chopped
and carried wood
And
used La-Z-Boy furniture as exercise equipment
And
walked a mile with groceries
And carried a sofa to the second story of a house a block away
And wrestled
computers at work
And
introduced a cow to Lori
And
bullshitted about major philosophical problems
And washed dishes and pumped up two bicycle tires.
For the
fireworks this year weren't half as impressive as the fireflies
And
our Mango is still as cute as the littlest kitten...
It continues with cryptic passages about the Goddess keeping John
honest and something about a strange Origin Cube given as
a gift from Rabbits, but I think that's enough for this week's reading.
Thank you.
G: I've had a
long week. I spent a couple of days at my parent's new house in Winter
Haven, Florida. They live right across a lake from Cypress Gardens, a
place I visited when I was around 12 years old. I didn't make it there
this visit, but plan to next time. We did our usual going out to dinner
and hanging around the house. I busied myself reading books mostly. I
bought Dress
Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris in the airport
for my Mom and finished it before I left there, and started To
Say Nothing Of the Dog by Connie Willis.
Monday my mom and I drove (4 hours) to Lori's apartment and after a
late lunch Mom left and we got to work. We spent the day sorting,
packing, and throwing stuff out. We went out to see the Herbie movie
that night too. The next few days were spent the same way, with many
trips to the Goodwill and Salvation Army, and the storage space. We had
a lot of help from Lori's son Jonathan. We're looking forward to visits
from him and his fiancee Shayla later.
We had two meals at Sweet
Tomatoes, which has the best salad bar I've ever eaten at. I hope
they open a franchise in our area! My only complaint, actually, is the
tomatoes there. It's the middle of summer, in Florida where you can
grow tomatoes year round, and a place with that name, you'd think they
could actually get some decent tomatoes, but they have the same
mediocre ones you find in most restaurants. I mean, with a name like
Sweet Tomatoes, you'd think they could put a little effort into that
department!
Anyway, we got everything put in it's place, and left Friday morning.
We had only a few traffic slow downs and made it to Aunt Betty's in
Hilton Head South Carolina in time for dinner. Aunt Betty is a good
friend of our parents, Mom went to college with her and they were house
mates for a while too. But she moved away from Buffalo right after I
was born so we'd never met. Lori had met her and stayed with her before
on other travels. When we pulled up to her lovely house, she was
outside jumping up and down with joy. That was quite a nice welcome.
Then she took us to dinner at The Club. She lives in a gated community
attached to a country club, and she's a golf fanatic. She works at the
golf shop there too. The Restaurant was English themed. We had a great
dinner and I tried a drink I'd never heard of before - a Shandy. It's lager mixed
with Sprite. I liked it. Thanks Aunt Betty! Hope to see you again real
soon.
Saturday we were on our way by 9:30 am. We did get caught while still
in S.C. in a backup caused by a smashup between two cars. And there
were the usual delays through Northern Virginia, but we made it home at
7:45pm.
Since then we've been moving furniture around and trying to get
everything situated. We've unearthed boxes that we've never unpacked
from moving 3 years ago, and other such adventures. We've been having
fun taking walks and taking in the fireflies at night, watching the
fireworks, working in the garden, and more usual stuff.
J: I
forgot last week to include a few extra HMRs from our friend Dave
Chalker. These are all for for Batman Begins:
Bateman IS
Batman
and
like Memento, flashbacks
keep
the story going.
