PLEASE HELP “TEAM GREYKELL”

We’ve taken the MS Society up on their Challenge to walk from Annapolis to DC over 3 days in September.

It’s a huge commitment, not only to do the walk, but also to do the fundraising involved.  Please help us with a donation.

As you may know, this past summer Greykell Dutton suffered the first of several episodes that led to her diagnosis.  MS (multiple sclerosis) is a disease in which the body’s own immune system attacks the central nervous system and destroys the myelin (that’s the protective coating around the nerves).  This leads to random but debilitating impairments, often with more and more problems occuring over time.  Become wheelchair-bound is commonplace.  Greykell has a good sense of humor and so she can laugh when she says she is lucky to have MS now, since there are many new treatments available.  The progress of the disease is unpredictable, but there are promising new medicines available.  Gene therapy and other new treatments may become available in the future.

The National MS Society was crucial in the researching of those new regimens.  Some 77% of the money raised from this type of event is used for research, education and support services for people living with MS and their families.

We will be pooling all of our donations to reach our goal of $7500.  All donations are tax deductible. NMSS will send out a thank you for any donation over $75. We’ll thank you for a donation of any size and we will report to you on the whole walk experience (including pictures!).  If there is anyone else you want us to remember or honor, let us know and we will put the name(s) on our T-shirt and handout information.

Please leave us a note with your pledge tonight.  To donate online for Team Greykell members, go to the National MS Society’s website http://www.msandyou.org/ms_challenge/index.php and click on the pledge button.  Please include a team member’s e-mail address and note that it is for the ‘3 day Challenge Walk’ donation.  Or mail your donation to Rick at  6306 Dry Stone Gate, Columbia MD 21045.

Thank you for your support, past and future.  Donations/pledges due by AUGUST 1.
