WATCH

Once wandering with the haggling hordes you woke
To see a golden glass slide off your wrist,
Still ticking as it fell before it broke

The final item on the engine's list
Of infinitely pressing things to do:
...It's time to fix the watch, do not forget...

Now old and guilty with lost moments you
Run stiffly through the streets, oily wet
From cars and drizzle, hoping that you might

...If it hasn't closed ...if it's not too late,
Arrive inside the tinker's neon light --
Whose sign reads TIME REPAIRED WHILE-U-WAIT

But while you run you might as well go shopping
...Don't wait... the town clock whispers ...time's not stopping...
