BURNING TREE

Could it be because of the Fall
That I am compelled to see
That the loveliest feeling of all
Is a silent burning tree

     (The forest walks
             The forest walks
                     The forest walks right through)

Could it be because of the wind
That the demons call to me
They're the whispering, whispering kind
From a silent burning tree

    (I tie the paths
            I tie the paths
                    I tie the paths around)

And life is an ember adrift
Above the unfolding sea
The tiny unnoticeable gift
Of a silent burning tree

     (The moon is caught
             The moon is caught
                     The moon is caught inside)
