G: Well well well. What have we done. What have we not done is the real question. Yes, we have not been doing our blogging. We don't know why. We just don't seem to have it in us lately. Perhaps we will switch to a different format or something to inspire us. Meanwhile, since the last news we put up, here are some things we did, in approximate order:

I took some pottery to Artists on The Avenue, a new shop in the Arts District in Hyattsville. A box fell off my cart on the way there and I lost quite a few pieces to breakage, and a bit of my heart. But I went on and have about a dozen items there, check it out!

We hosted the October First Friday party, the first time in over a year. It was big. I had fun. Lot's of folks really enjoyed it. Yeah.

On Saturday the 4th I went to a memorial service for Bob Holloway. His widow, Jeri, is a longtime potter at the studio, and a wonderful person. I didn't really know Bob, but went in support of Jeri. It was a lovely service with lots of beautiful live music.

That night we went to Dana's Prince themed birthday party at her place in Dupont Circle. She has a really nice little apartment, and a great rooftop hangout spot where most of the party was. Purple Rain was shown inside all night, and people came in great costumes, especially our host (who wore a light blue latex dress) and Hopi, who took the time to sew things on her clothes and draw herself a mustach to look like Prince. There was a pretty big Greenbelt contingent there, and we did most of the dancing and staying late. It was a very good time.

On Sunday I helped out my studio mate Mary with her Artful Afternoon project, carving small plaster blocks and using them to print with paint onto sheets of paper that could be used to wrap gifts.

Thursday the 9th we went to the New Deal to celebrate Amethyst's birthday with her. John and I mostly hung out with Joe and Andy. It was very fun. Lot's of people there.

The next night we went to what used to be My-Li and is now The Lotus Room (I think), a Vietnamese restaurant in Silver Spring, to celebrate Izolda's birthday. Good company there too.

On Saturday the 11th we went to Six Flags to ride rollercoasters for John's birthday. Luisa had given us some free tickets (although we'd forgotten we could get those anytime from John's uncle who works there). Superman is still one of the best coasters around, but most of the others were just okay, or painful. But we had a great time. That night we went to Renee and Alex's for some gaming. Fun.

On Sunday we spent a good part of the day with Dave playing Rock Band, which rocked.

The end for now...

J: McCain is often touted as a guy who looks after his own, the military veterans. But looky—

McCain's veterans votes

Obama's veterans votes

Huh. Obama voted yes for every veterans' bill he was present for, and McCain voted no for all veterans' bills he was present for. Obama is a member of the Veterans' Affairs committee, so I guess he has a stake in some of these bills. McCain is a member of the Armed Services committee, and a Vietnam veteran mimself.

Here's another example:

Amdt 2011 to HR 1585: To reaffirm strong support for all the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and to strongly condemn attacks on the honor, integrity, and patriotism of any individual who is serving or has served honorably in the United States Armed Forces, by any person or organization.

Obama voted Yes. McCain voted No. I wonder, what's the story behind that amendment? It smacks of undermining free speech.
