G: There
was a First Friday party at the
New
Deal Cafe, and it was a great
success. They did as much business as they did for their New Year's
party! So that was a nice boost for the Cafe. I sat near the front door
most of the night, and greeted all the people I knew who came in. I
really enjoyed myself.
Dan Hart
showed up, and when I told him I got a
guitar from John for Xmash, he gave me some advice and asked me about
what I wanted to play. I'm not really sure what I want to play, I just
need to start with really easy stuff. But I thought that some of the
early Beatles stuff was supposed to be easy. Later he brought out his
guitar and did some Beatles songs. I also hung out with Kevin a lot.
On Saturday, Stacy came over, and so did Dave. We all hung out, and
then they walked to Starbucks with John. John called Chris to see how
long he thought it would take them to walk there. Chris said 30
minutes, but he must have been thinking about his own walking speed. I
said it would take them 40 minutes, and I was right. They walked back
too. I got some housework done.
We all got in Stacy's car that evening to go to the
Brookside Gardens
light display. But it started raining on the way over there. It was
raining enough that no one except for me wanted to go in, but we saw
some impressive displays just passing by in the car. We headed to a
Chinese restaurant instead. Then to a movie theater, but we were just
too late to see what we wanted. So we went home and watched Ratatouille.
On Sunday I went to yoga at RnA's, Rizolda came with me. Then I had to
go spend the afternoon at the Community Center for
Artful Afternoon. A
few friends came by. I got a lot done, but it was all cleaning. Stacy
showed up there and came back home with me, and after we had dinner
with Rich and Izolda at
Siri's
Chef's Secret, I spent the evening watching the
first disc of the second season of
The Office.
Tuesday night I visited a neighbor and acquaintance to check out a
potters wheel and buy it from her. Which I did. I now have my first
very own pottery wheel. With just a little bit of adjustment, it seems
to work fine, and is a very durable model (a
shimpo).
Yay!
Today along with my usual grocery shopping, I took my gee-tar to
Atomic
Music (where John bought it) and got new extra-light strings put on
(per Dan's advice). I also bought a stand, strap, basic book, and a
soft case. All very reasonable prices. A great place to buy music stuff!
