dance, stand, move, play

G: I went to Dance Night at The Conservatory last Sunday, darlings. 'Twas lovely. During the week I worked on painting an old chair and desk that I wrote about buying long ago. Some free time, agreeable weather, and some sort of motivation kicked in and they are coming right along. I'll put them up in the bedroom when done to hold my infrequently used but totally disorganized makeup and jewelry in a more organized fashion.

Renata stopped by on Thursday when I was out back painting my chair and reported that her mom had died that morning. So we hung out and comforted her and later went to Franklin's to distract her some. She is holding up very well as far as I can tell.

A whole bunch of people met up at the Hyatt in Bethesda Friday night to see Chris do a set of stand up in a show there. We brought Kory and Rich, and met up with Jake, Ingrid, her daughter, Kristin, Alison, Jenny, and Brenden. We got there early as warned to get good seats, but apparently they had their slowest night ever and at first we thought we were going to be the vast majority of the audience with 11 of us. By the time the show got started there were a few more, but we were probably almost a third. Easily if you don't count the comedians themselves. Anyway, it was a good show, and Chris made me laugh the hardest. Afterwards we hung around chatting, and then our carload plus Chris wandered over to Jaleo and we all had a nice, expensive meal.

On Saturday John, Chris, and Kory went to help Dave move again, and when they came back Tom came over and we all played some games. We played "What's It To Ya" which is kind of a party game. I played a Hold'em tourney later but was the first one out. John and Kory helped with more moving the next day, too.

J: It's nice to see that leaders of our kakistocracy have decided to stop torturing some citizens who are accused of taking part in traitorous acts, even while incarcerating and torturing others for years without legal recourse. I applaud their newfound ability to allow a speedy trial for the accused. But by letting the convicted criminal off scott free (scoot free?) they might be going a bit far in the other direction.
