J: I noticed in the news that
fathers
can get postpartum depression, too. Which made me think a couple
things.
Why does this kind of depression have such a cryptic name? Why isn't it
simply called "new parent depression" or "wow, I forgot how much work
this is, why am I so stressed out?"
Also, it's widely known that sleep deprivation can cause severe
depression. Newborn babies need a lot of attention at odd hours. If
that doesn't give sleep dep to both parents, I don't know what will.
