 Pants

G: Friday night we went to Thom and Kathy's for a little campfire, Lori came along. I was able to wrangle a book out of the house - Kathy loaned me Holes and I managed to keep Thom from hiding it from me. Maureen and Damian were there, I'd met them around the fire at Thom's birthday party a few weeks ago. Even though Damian is English and not Japanese, he makes a pretty good Eric Cooper substitute.

On Saturday I got up a bit early and went and set up to sell my pottery at the New Deal Cafe Fall Festival, at the Roosevelt Center. Mary Gawlick, the tile-making teacher, also set up with me, and Diane McDaniel joined us later. It was a bit warm and we were out in the sun - the pottery got almost hot to the touch, and I got some tanning. We didn't sell much but there were friends to see and music to listed to, so it wasn't a bad day. I played around with my new Virgin cell phone. John played his didj with the Greenbelt Drum Circle. People heard he was my husband and asked about and commented on the Didj.

Kory and Chris came back from Chicago that evening, and we all went out for Indian food. I had them drop me back off at Roosevelt Center so I could see The Philosophers Tone perform. They were very good and I enjoyed their set. I swing danced with Chort to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

When that was over I headed over to Luisa's to celebrate Charlene's birthday. It was a very nice party with lots of good munchies and a fire in the yard. And beer. John came later and climbed a tree. Then Paul climbed another tree. Then Gary climbed into that tree with him. Then John climbed into it too, but not very high. They watched us around the fire from their perches.

J: Thom gave me pants. A drunk guy told me to get out of the tree because he thought I would hurt myself. I think he was projecting. Watching a campfire from high up in a tree gives me two feelings that usually don't occur together: peace and excitement.

I just changed the rating for Serenity to yellow (liked it) from orange (it's OK). There were so many things to like about that film, but the nonsensical space zombies got on my nerves. It was fun to watch, though. Our HMR is critical enough, and this movie is certainly better than the last Star Wars movie, so it should get at least a yellow.
