Solsticey Night

J: Last Saturday Gina, Kory and I ate huge veggie burgers at Houston's, then we went to a party in Greenbelt. There seems to always be a party in Greenbelt, doesn't there? This one was at Dave's friend Justin's place. We were by far the oldest people there. It was more or less a college party. We playtested my new game design with Dave, Kory, and Rich, who all had great ideas; but playtesting is work, and we probably shouldn't have worked at a party. Later we played several interesting games of Werewolf, some of which actually got past the second "day", as a few were cut short by players drunkenly showing their cards or moderators forgetting who killed whom. After that we played a big game of Why Did The Chicken, which is always fun.

On Sunday I finally hunkered down and hammered out the latest Hypothermia's Meltdown, then Gina and I tore the place apart looking for Gimmik's title. We had been sort of looking for it for the last month, while our friend Number 12 got the car into a condition to pass inspection. I finally gave up and called #12 to tell him we couldn't find the title. But while I was talking to him about replacing the title, my hand unconsciously—in a picking-a-scab kind of way—wandered down to the corner of a shelf, and slowly pulled out an envelope. I opened it while #12 was telling me the ten-day wait would be alright with him, and there it was, sitting in my hand— the title. My actions were so unconscious that it felt as if the title just appeared in my hand. Number 12 picked it up a few days later. We're almost legally down to two cars...

G: On Monday John and I went down to the New Deal to meet up with CooperDad for a while. He bought us drinks. I had lemonade. He told us that his girlfriend Catherine just bought a townhouse in GHI! She's been wanting to sell her home and move here for a while. After that, we took a bike ride, rode by Catherine's new place to check it out (looks very nice!), and then went to see Luisa who just got back from a few weeks in Mexico. We hung out with her for a long time, went home, then went back over to Dorian's to hang out some more. We took Kali for a long walk with Dorian and Luisa. We didn't get home until quite late!

Tuesday was the first day of Summer, the solstice, and Amethyst called up and said she'd rented a campsite in Greenbelt Park, and to come out to drum and didge and look at the moon. So after various preparations we went over there, bringing Luisa. We hung out at the campsite picnic table, well lit by torches, and talked and snacked. Dorian, Amethyst and Paul were there when we arrived. Ronda, Marlene and Kevin showed up soon after, and then Cathy. The plan was to go to the top of a hill to get a good view of the moon and be farther away from other campers so we could make some noise. We headed out, with Amethyst leading the way. We muddled around till we found the perimeter trail, and by then John and I needed to walk back to the campsite to leave so we could try to get to bed at a decent hour. Luisa came to go home with us, and Cathy came to go back to her truck and sleep there. We left Dorian, Amethyst, Marlene and Kevin trudging off on the perimeter trail, Dorian certain they were going the right way, Amethyst unsure but willing to follow since Dorian was so certain. I wonder what ever happened.

J: Turns out Dorian was right! I was on Amethyst's side. They made it to the hilltop and played drums and dij until late.
