Gods and Gaskets
J:
We spent Friday evening and Saturday getting ready for this year's
Ariesfest at DnA's place. I built the fire area and Gina built the
Nookie Nook, the traditional small romantic cozy tent on the side. Also
on Saturday Gina went to Izolda's Wedding shower, the Relaxation
Super Hero Meeting.
The costume theme for Ariesfest this year was "come as your
favorite god or mythical creature." Chris dressed as a mummified
pharaoh. Gina came as a Doggess (see her picture below), and it took a
while for some of her friends to recognize her! Jenny went as "pretty."
I put on a clown nose
and went to the party as the loneliest god in the world— Tormentada,
the Sad Clown of Atheism. I tried to convince people that the whole
party was just a masquerade, but to no avail. I had a great time
dancing and didging and conversing with "gods" around the fire. We left
the party around five in the morning.
On Sunday afternoon Skip came over with his daughter Lily, who is only
17 months old but very loquacious for her age. She kept saying Gina's
name over and over, like it was her special joke. We all went to DnA's to help other friends
dismantle the party. We took down the big "Den of Iniquity" tent and
eventually Gina and I fell asleep on
DnA's futon couch, so when we woke up we went home and fell asleep
again, for over twelve hours!
On Monday night Gina, Alison, Kristin and I went
downtown to a little club called DC9
to see one of our favorite bands— The
Gaskets! They rocked the joint, natch. The other two bands that
played were Lejeune
and Greenland. I liked
Lejeune's sci-fi tinted lyrics.
Next week I'm planning to update GinohnNews on Monday because I'm
taking a little Java class on Wednesday night.
