Shotgun Methods
J:
I spent most of Friday—about 14 hours—at Rich's roving bachelor party.
We played Parcheesi for 14 hours! Sorry; I'm following the bachelor
code, here. I must lie to protect the groom. But here's a hint: we
didn't play Parcheesi; highlights included shotguns and a big rat named
Chuck E.
On Saturday night Gina and I had Grilled pizza at Marketon's place. I
ate a grilled pizza v1.0 and a grilled
pizza v2.0, which
was a vast improvement over the former. Then we watched a DVD of Mars
Attacks! After that Gina and I went to the university theater to see
the Satanic Mechanics'
screening of The Princess Bride. There was a very good little dance
number before the movie and the group acted out the entire movie with
comical sidebars. The audience yelled out improvised one-liners. I
chose the shotgun method— I yelled a lot of lines out and got a few
good laughs.
On Sunday morning I charged up Gimmik (our old Toyota) and Number 12
(our old friend) came over to drive it away. After 230,000 miles it's
going to a good mechanic.
Today at lunch I participated in Goddard's semi-annual fun run, not by
running this time, but as course marshal #1. I directed the runners
around the first turn and then toward the finish, and I redirected cars
and grumbling drivers away from the race. The course marshal work was
interesting but next time I'll run instead.
