Good Dog
J:
Booda's gone. We put him to his final rest on Friday, March 18th. Gina
and I are grateful to all our wonderful friends for their support
through these horrible times. We love you all.
I've been waiting for a good morning ever since Friday but haven't seen
one yet. I think I've cried more in the last two weeks than in the
previous 20 years. We force ourselves out of bed and go to work or
visit friends for comfort and distraction. Lots of friends have been
visiting to keep us company. Kory's been wonderful; he's able to easily
switch from sympathetic to philosophical to humorous, all at the right
times. I don't know how he does it. Gina and I are becoming addicted to
him, and to Amethyst's hugs and Rich and Izolda's hospitality. Also big
thanks to our new pet geek Dorian (to clarify: he's our pet and he's a
geek) and Booda's favorite aunt Stacy and favorite cousin Sev for
giving Booda so much love and joy over the years. Susan Stern gave us a
beautiful vase of flowers. TV Tom gave us a game and lent me a book, Land of No Buddha,
and distracted us with his characteristic rapid fire conversation.
Special thanks to everyone who helped us at the burial, especially Rich
and Gary (who is a meticulous groundskeeper). I just know I'm leaving
out so many other friends who called and visited. I hope you know who
you are and we send big hugs to everyone. We are fortunate to have so
many caring neighbors.
I'm more in love with Gina than I've ever been— under my general
cynical gloom, certain perfect things like love and hugs and kisses
have become all the more precious to me.
I can't write much more about this stuff. Maybe some other day...
