J: We
dropped Booda at the animal hospital again today, to check up on
his stitches, lymph nodes, and lungs. According to the vet Booda's
doing really well; he's healing nicely from the surgery, his lymphs
aren't swollen and his lung x-rays came out clean. Even so, Booda's
recovering verrry slowly. He's still obviously in pain, his head hangs
and he often has a big string of drool hanging out of the right side of
his mouth, but at least he's still eating.
Last Thursday three students—Peter, Peter, and Robert—came down from New Jersey to meet Ginohn, perform in a 2005 World Celebration of Physics
standup comedy open mike at the New Deal Cafe, and then meet the
Looneys for a night of gaming. Peter and Rob put on a good performance
at the New Deal, singing parodies of Breakfast at Tiffany's and For the Longest Time, which I called For the Longest Twine
because it traced the history of physics from Galileo through Newton to
Einstein, all the way to Quantum and finally Superstring theories. They got a
lot of applause. The rest of the show was bizarre, nerdy, and very
entertaining.
The next day I gave the three a short improvised tour of Goddard Space
Flight Center, and then they took off back to New Jersey. Thanks for visiting, guys!
Over the weekend I put up some nice track lighting in our living room,
and two wall-mounted bedside lamps in our bedroom. Let there be more
light! I also did some other household projects and chores, the worst,
most tedious of which was opening boxes from our last move and throwing
junk out or finding places to put stuff. Awful, dusty, psychologically
difficult work, and we're still not done yet. Give me more lights to
put up, or something to construct, please.
This Thursday I'm taking off from work to go downtown and not see the inauguration with Stacy and Dorian. Hope we don't get too cold.
Looky, here are a bunch of pictures from DnA's New Years Party! Good
times. Good times. (Ran out of space on the server though, so some of
these might not be linked yet.)
