Thanks Again, Indians!

J:Where did the week go? Oh yeah, our computer came and it sucked up all my time. It's a good thing though, mostly. I've been exploring Mac OS-X, downloading files from our old Windows 95 computer, tweaking applications, importing address books, mail, and bookmarks, and ripping a hell of a lot of CDs into my hard drive-- all while listening to hundreds of music files transmitted to our stereo! Fun, fun. (With moments of frustration thrown in, of course.)

We had a grand vegan Thanksindians feast last Thursday. Gina made tons of food, and other guests (about 15 of 'em) brought even more stuff. We had mashed garlic potatoes, sweet potatoes, pastries, soup, gravy, Tofurkey slices, stuffing, veggies, greens, salad, wine, beer, six different pies, and vegan ice cream. I ated too much pie.

After pigging out we played several improvisational acting games, sang some dysfunctional xmash carols, and jammed a bit on dij and drum. After almost everyone left we bopped over to the Looneys' place to play games.

On Friday I woke up and got ready to go to work late, but before I could leave the FedEx guy showed up with my computer. I brought the box in. It was dented and wet on the top, evidence that someone dropped it upside down into a puddle. But inside, the iMac G5 was dry and well. I struggled briefly with the idea of going to work while a new toy waited at home, and decided to skip work that day. By the time Alfredo came over to help I had already set up the computer and the AirPort wifi. Alfredo and Stacy helped me to get the iMac talking to the ol' HP. Later I tried to push the hard drive by playing and downloading music at the same time while Alfredo played music remotely from my iMac to his laptop. No skips or stutters! I was impressed. We ran around the house and outside into the yard with Alfredo's laptop playing my tunes, checking the AirPort signal and giggling like two mad scientists.

Chris Welsh came to visit this week, so I had a lot of fun playing Cartoon Chicken with him, Gina, Kory, and Alfredo. Ginohn and Chris also watched the rest of the second season of Six Feet Under.

On Saturday Gina, Chris, Jake and I helped demonstrate Kory's published games at a local game designers' show at the Greenbelt community center. In addition to Kory's games (Why Did The Chicken...? and Zendo), other game demos included Balloon Cup, Cluzzle, and Geist. A lot of people showed up. There were raffles for free games, and a concession stand.

G: This coming weekend you can attend another Game Festival and play those games, and also attend the Greenbelt Festival of Lights Craft Show, featuring many Greenbelt potters and lots of other artists. I'll be selling my wares and doing a wheel demo on Saturday, about the same time as the Game Festival, in the same building, the Greenbelt Community Center.  The Craft Show is Sunday too.
