Living Near Jesusland

J: Hey, I remembered to throw a few Halloween pictures into last week's news. Take a peek!

Our First Friday party went well. I wore eyeliner and Gina wore her pointy elf ears. I got a lot of nice comments on my eyeliner and, surprisingly, a lot of strange looks and questions like, "Hey, what's with the makeup?" I just wanted to put my post-Halloween party face on and relive the good ol' eighties, but now I'm thinking of applying eyeliner every First Friday until people get used to it or it starts a new trend in men's eyeliner.

On Saturday Gina, Booda, and I went for a walk in our woods. As we started to cross a little
stream canyon we spied some trash and stopped to pick it up. Someone had ripped and burned up most of a copy of Darwin's On the Origin of Species. Yep, the religious burning of books has begun, along with the desecration of the forest! Woo Hoo! Welcome to the borders of Jesusland, sponsored by Bush and company. My immediate reactionary thought was to burn a bible in retaliation, but I cooled off well before we returned home. No need to stoop to their level... yet.

G: That night we met up with a bunch of friends for dinner and a movie. We met RnA, Rizolda, Janet, Petra, and Liam at The Macaroni Grill in Silver Spring. We all had fun drawing squiggles on the paper table "cloth" and making weird pictures out of them while we waited for our food. After dinner we went down the street to The Majestic to see The Incredibles. John was suffering from the beginnings of a cold so we went home afterward while the rest went for ice cream.

On Sunday we went over to Alfredo's place to watch a DVD of The Beatles First U.S. Visit. From there the three of us went to Bethesda to have a birthday dinner for Alfredo at Jaleo. It's a Spanish tapas restaurant that both he and Luisa love. John and I joined in that love, but it cost a pretty penny. Almost everything we had was absolutely delicious. The rest was very good. I'm saving my pretty pennies to go back again. We had a great time.

We eat out too much.

On Monday night John and I just hung out at home and watched two episodes of Six Feet Under (from season 2). Has he always been so snippy and snarly, or is Nate's condition affecting him that way?

J: I caught a cold this week, probably (and ironically) from the receptionist at the ear/nose/throat doctor I went to last week. This was a doozy of a cold— full of chills, dizziness, malaise, and snot. I suddenly recovered today, though. Whatta relief.

So anyways I'm a bit late on some tombstones. Sorry; maybe next week...
