To
Willy! To Lily!
J:
Last Friday
night Deane Miner and Amy Pyrka treated us to dinner at BD's, a Mongolian BBQ
place in Bethesda. Deane's an old college friend of Gina's. They hadn't
seen each other since she graduated. He told an exciting but sad story
of being involved in an 80+40 mph head on collision while driving a
Prius. He survived with temporary injuries. The other driver wasn't so
lucky. It seems that the Prius is a fairly safe car.
On Saturday Gina and I took Dorian and Gary to the Renaissance Festival, aka the
"Outdoor Mall", where I mostly sat in the White Hart Tavern drinking
good ale and wine, chatting with fellow Greenbelters (including DnA,
John Bull, Drake, and Gary), and watching various bawdy sea shanty
singers performing on the tavern's stage. A somewhat
spontaneous bunch of belly dancers put on a sumptuous show, too. That was fun.
The fair honored William Shakespeare that day, so I got other people randomly and
loudly toasting, "To
Willy!" which eventually morphed into, "Free Willy!"
On Sunday we went to a one-year birthday party for Skip and Lindsay's daughter
Lily. See?

I had good conversations with old friends and gobs of mastications with
old junk foods (I'm having trouble with the diet ever since coming back
from Spain). Skip played Warner Bros. cartoons on a big projection
screen, and I watched them with my little unklings Liam and Sean. Sean
likes to lie beside me and idly pull all my arm hairs out, one by one,
while he watches TV. Reminds me of that cartoon about the bulldog and
kitten. Ouch, ooch, yipe...
Lots of rain and consequently lots of mushrumps lately. Our fridge is
full!
I posted four pictures of Bill William's anti
war/bush art exhibit at the New Deal, in an earlier news entry.
Enjoy...
