Porkstock and Dennfest
J: This weekend
we drove a million hours Northwest to attend the Denn Family Reunion,
which was a lot of fun. Actually the driving wasn't so bad either, I
just wish we had brought along some books on tape. We stayed at Aunt
Margie's and Gary's house and they were, as per usual, wonderful hosts.
I used my meager plumbing skills that I learned last week to fix a
leaky faucet in their house. They were overjoyed and continued to thank
me for the rest of the weekend. When I asked Margie if there was
anything else that was broken, she smiled and said, "My heart." Ain't
she sweet? The Reunion was held near Lake Chautauqua, New York.
 Before
Dennfest we stopped at Porkstock, one of the smallest and most pleasant
rock festivals in the known world. Porkstock played near Alfred, New
York, where Gina went to school. A few of Gina's friends from college
were
there, camping out and running the show. They fed us and gave us beer,
and joked a lot. Nice people. The bands that we heard were really good,
they played mostly covers, with a lot of 70's, 80's and 90's stuff
thrown in. One band played a great version of Pink Floyd's Breathe. Both the Denns and the
Porkstockers were a bunch of really nice folks with good hearts. Nice
vacation. Wish we could have stayed longer.
