Merry Grimble!

J:  Gina's in Florida with her family. I drove her to the airport on Sunday. She and her brother Grant watched Cast Away, and Grant wrote this week's HMR. Thanks Grant! Gina will report on her family visit next week.

Sunday night, I went to a little campfire in the woods with several Greenbelters to celebrate the eve of the Solstice and Luisa's graduation that day. Luisa has a PHD! Luisa yay! Luisa yay! That's our special cheer for Luisa.

Chris arrived on Monday night. Last night Chris and I attended a Xmash Eve party at Dorian and Amethyst's place. I drank a lot of really tasty scotch whiskey. DNA had a warm fire in the fireplace, good friends and food, and nice music.

Then today we went to a long Xmash woods walk with the Greenbelt crew (Luisa, Dorian, Amethyst, Paul, Diana, Chris, Gary, Booda, and Kali). Beautiful weather! We hiked through much of the Greenbelt forest preserve, found some mushrumps, visited the Witching Tree (an old living tree whose trunk you can climb into) and rested at the top of a big hill on plush matted grass. We also played a very short, grueling king of the hill match on a very steep gravelly spoil pile. Chris won, but I had a brief reign prior to my usurpation by the pretender who, even now, falsely lords it over a small spoil pile. Booda also had a short reign while Chris, Amethyst (another pretender, supported by the Fungus Pope) and I battled under the throne. Three cheers for the fleeting idyllic Day of the Dog King! He was truly a benevolent ruler, much loved by the yeomanry, respected by his knights, adored by the bakers' guild, and sore hated by the acolytes of the Fungus Pope.

After our pleasant walk, Chris and I went to Leo's sister Kathy's place. Leo had invited me on the condition that I accurately report everything about the party. Kathy and her husband threw an amazing party. For drinks, in her courtyard she had a huge fountain shooting hundreds of gallons of champagne into the air. Small egg nog robots dispensed nog into their guests cups whenever the cups emptied. After a delicious dinner with 12 main courses served by 12 ambassadors from each dish's country of origin, we ate pumpkin pie with Cool WhipTM, and opened our presents. Leo's mom Megan gave me some wonderful presents: a book on Buddhism, a wooden puzzle, a quartz crystal, a million dollars, and a really beautiful Tibetan singing bowl. As I opened the bowl's box, the bowl imprinted itself on me, and now it only sings for me. Chris got a Tibetan prayer wheel that upon activation started computing the nine billion names of God and beaming them to my quartz crystal. Thanks for the great party and nice gifts, folks!
