Tempest and Tag
J:On Friday night I played didgeridu,
behind the scenes, in the opening show of The Tempest at our little
community theater. I played with five other drummers and we had a good
time. The audience seemed to enjoy the play, and they gave the band a
standing ovation. I'll be playing in the play on May 2, 9, 10, 16, and
17 at 8:00 PM, and May 4 and 11 at 2:00 PM at the Greenbelt Arts
Center, right next to the post office. See it if you dare.
Chris Welsh came into town on Saturday. We went to the New Deal Cafe
for coffee and then to a bang up party, called Aries Fest, at Dorian and
Amethyst's place. Parties at DNA's house have slowly ramped up over the
years to full fledged conventions. This time they had a belly dancing
tent (called the Den of Iniquity) with drummers, a nice fire with
guitars, banjos, and fiddles, a HUGE peace sign made with those candle
bags in the field behind the tent (Paul and Susan danced around it
wearing lights, but I missed the performance), and dance music inside
the house. They also had a beer garden, lovely women offering mixed
drinks on trays, and foooood. We stayed until almost 5:00 AM.
On Sunday Gina managed to wake up at 8:00 for a tea & bread
festival at the Montpelier
Mansion to sell pottery for her pottery guild. Booda, Chris, and I
met up with her later and took a walk around the grounds. Then we bought
some loaves of bread and came home. The end.
Or is it? Later we went back to the New Deal with Kory and Jenny (Booda
stayed home) where we ran into Lucy and Leo. Later Gina stopped by as we
sat outside the cafe; she managed to stay awake while we all ate various
foodstuffs and played one of Kory's new games. Severina and her friend
Loren visited our table. They were attempting to stay awake for 72
hours. They had 35 thus far. After our meals Kory, Chris, Gina and I
returned home. Gina fell asleep while the rest of us played yet another
Kory game. I'm enjoying these Kory games.
Tonight after work I bicycled to Franklin's Brewery with some of my
fellow Geezers. I'm really out of shape. We had the usual few pints
apiece, toasted Pete, our Geezer buddy who had to go back to Australia a
while back, then rode home in the dark. Rich and I played a funny,
exhausting game of tag on the way back. Then Rich, Paul, and Gary took a
longer scenic route home through woods trails while Dorian and I took
the standard bike trails and roads. Then I lost Dorian (I forgot to turn
on Ivy Lane), found my house and attempted to add reasonable content to
this site.
Around 11:30 Rich knocked on our door. I thought he was dropping his
bike off (he keeps it in our shed sometimes) but when I opened the door
he tagged me and ran off. I immediately began my pursuit at full tilt,
tripped and fell smack into a stand of bushes. I stood up and took off
again. By this time Rich had a really good lead, and Booda was behind
me, so I had to slow down so Booda wouldn't run into the road. I was
about to give up the chase, but then I heard a huge crash as Rich dove
headlong into the wrong part of the woods across the street. Booda
sniffed him out, and we found him, curled up in a large, squashed group
of thorn bushes, bleeding and laughing uncontrollably. I helped him up
and took him back home to clean up. We talked a while, then right as he
was leaving I tagged him back. I hope you folks have as much fun as we
do.
