Snow! Woo Hoo!

J: Aaaah! Snow! No time for anything else, including work! Must sled and play in snow! No time for weblog, just edited emails from yesterday.
Nice pics, Cecily and Dave. We put our latest up in our 2003 slideshow. I put your picture of our unklings' fort in there, too. The other pictures are mostly from before the big storm. The picnic table pics were taken halfway through the storm.

We've been very busy playing in the snow, hiking to a campfire way back in the woods, and to friends' houses for food, wine, and tea. And taking fast rides down a nasty hill in the farm area. Inner tubes are fastest, followed by thermarest mattresses covered with garbage bags, then snowboards, plastic sleds, and then our old Challenger wood sled. Somebody brought a wooden toboggan last night, that was fairly fast.

Late last night (Monday) we rode together down Research Road (a very long hill) on our sled; the ride felt slow and serene, very romantic. We were the only people on the road.

I'm very sore now from some fierce moguls that slammed me hard on the the farm hill today (Tuesday). Knocked my breath out and left me a bit shaky.

Gina made some pretty jewelry and dishes out of colored glass; they're in the slideshow too.

Soon we'll walk down to town center, meeting friends for happy hour at the cafe, and then to the restaurant for rice noodles Singapore style. Yum!

We hiked way back into the woods Sunday night to see the remains of a little campfire (pretty), then we hiked to Izolda's house where we ate and drank good food, tea and wine. Then we hiked over to our friends Dorian and Amethyst's place and ate and drank more, and watched movies and didn't get home till 4:00 in the morning. We're crazy.

G:
(Sunday) I watched out the window in amazement as it just kept coming down and getting deeper and deeper - We have at least 2 feet on the ground, probably a bit more. We shovelled the walk twice yesterday and you can't even tell. Hardly anyone in Greenbelt has dug out their cars and many are these adorable car shaped mounds of snow.

I don't know why it makes me feel so good. One person speculated that it brings back childhood memories - that may be so but I'm certain it goes beyond that.

I loved walking around in it while it was coming down on Sunday - it was magical. I loved sledding on Monday and Tuesday! I even tried snowboarding a little. Wednesday we were all worn out.
