New Year Review

J: Dorian sent us some pictures of us at his and Amethyst's far freakin' out New Year's party. I don't recall having so much fun on a new year eve; The last great bash before this one was Duncan and Anne's party back in 1999(?) when Kory convinced me to dive head first through a hula hoop onto a cement floor.
Doriamethyst requested that guests wear "Torrid, Tacky, Outrageous and Creative" outfits. As you might see here, we attempted to oblige. Gina wore a pleather miniskirt, knee socks, pumps, an almost see-through (in places) lacy top, glowing blinking jewelry, some spectacular makeup and her new haircut. Unfortunately we don't have full length pictures, sorry. That's Mi-Ae with Gina; Mi-Ae wore a faery costume, with wings and honey sacks on her back. I wore black skin-tight long underwear, a cummerbund, and a bow tie. Chris Welsh wore practically nothing and a feather boa.

The party featured a harem tent in the back of the yard, complete with drapes, rugs, a heater, a small disco ball, many drummers and musicians, and Deborah Sterns as belly dancer. The harem remained crowded most of the night. If you left the harem and approached the house, you would first run into a cheery fire with a circle of more guests and musicians. Near the frog pond, they set up coolers and kegs of a variety of beer, with many fresh brews from Franklin's brewery. Inside the house people danced to all sorts of music, which lasted some time after we left. They also set up the usual table of delicious foods, and filled the house with festive decorations, including a small balloon drop. We ate, drank, and danced till about 5:30 in the morning. What a great party. Thanks, Amethyst and Dorian!

Friday night we had a party of our own, though it felt noticeably subdued, maybe because there weren't as many guests and most everyone had partied themselves out on the first of the year. A lot of people played werewolf upstairs in our mufraj, and I even played a few games of Zendo.

G: On Saturday we went to see Gangs of New York with Kory and Jenny, then met Gary at the Berwyn Cafe for dinner. He came back to our place and we watched Orgazmo while John tried to (and succeeded, for now) fix the computer. On Sunday Kory came over and played games all afternoon with John and Chris while I whiled away the time with reading and housework.

J: Chris has gone back to Philly. Kory and I might see him this Saturday in Delaware at the Days of Knights game store.
